Adam Sterry tenth at Valkenswaard

Adam Sterry of the F&H Racing Team shrugged off a recent finger injury to place tenth overall in the European GP round of the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship at Valkenswaard in the Netherlands.

The Welshman, racing for the first time since damaging a finger at the opening GP in Argentina two weeks previously, had earnt a good gate pick in qualification and started well in the opening GP moto but was unfortunately hooked off his bike by another rider's stricken mount on the opening lap and fell again further around the course to complete the first lap in thirtieth position. Showing great resolve he advanced fourteen positions in the course of the race to take the chequered flag sixteenth before another impressive showing two hours later as he charged from twelfth on lap one to finish eighth. The combined results left him tenth overall on the day and has seen him advance to sixteenth in the series standings.

Teammate Jed Beaton, fifth two weeks earlier in Argentina, continued his consistent form to finish eighth in the opening moto and the Australian is now ninth in the series, whilst GP rookie Ruben Fernandez also opened his points account for the season with 17-15 moto finishes. Darian Sanayei added an eleventh place finish for Bike IT DRT Kawasaki.

Adam Sterry: “In the first race my start was pretty good but I hit a rider who crashed in front of me and then on the same lap I crashed again. I was a long way behind but I recovered to sixteenth, even if I was a little tired at the end. In the second race I was around twelfth at the start and came back to eighth; for sure we want more but we are progressing each week. The weather made the track difficult and conditions were different each time we went on the track.”
