Since the Motorland round the FIM has instigated new balancing rules which have penalised Kawasaki still further. Kawasaki riders will now have more than 1,000rpm taken away from their peak revs, artificially limiting their machine’s top end performance. This latest move comes soon after extra ballast was added to all the Ninja 400s shortly before the season had started.
 
Kawasaki has also started the 2018 WorldSBK championship with the lowest peak rev limit of any of the four-cylinder manufacturers, making this the second challenge for the engineers and teams to try and overcome as they aim for ultimate on-track success.
 
For Aragon runner-up Scott Deroue (Motoport Kawasaki) Assen is his home round, and a race he won for Kawasaki with the Ninja 300 last season. At Assen, no fewer than 13 WorldSSP300 riders will compete on a Kawasaki.
 
Mika Perez (Kawasaki ParkinGO team) was the other Kawasaki podium finisher in Spain last week. Robert Schotman (Motoport Kawasaki) is another rider at his home WorldSSP300 round in The Netherlands, and was one of five Kawasaki riders inside the top six at Motorland Aragon.
 
Ana Carrasco (DS Junior Team Kawasaki) led her home race more than once in Aragon, and is out to win this weekend, as she did for Kawasaki last year in Portugal.
